Nowadays, olive oil is considered to be the most appropriate oil for human consumption. It is directly extracted from the olives, so all-natural nutrients are kept without heating or chemical treatment. Olive Oil is said to be the healthiest oil. There are a lot of different types of oil in the market and prices change widely. What type of olive oil should we buy?

We are going to talk about the different types of olive oil and the way they are recommended to be consumed:

1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

This is the oil with the highest quality. It comes from the production of virgin olive oil (mechanic process, no chemical treatment) and it is considered to have a great taste and with only a 0,8% of acidity.

Even though it is considered to be the best, the quality, the aroma, the taste, the colour, the benefits for health and its price depend on the trademark; the best way to use it is for dressing salad.

2.Virgin Olive Oil

This oil is slightly inferior in quality and it has approximately 1,5% of acidity, with great taste and ideal for cooking (frying).

3.Refined Olive Oil

Olive Oil labeled as ¡®Pure Olive Oil¡¯ or ¡®Olive Oil¡¯ es generally Refined Olive Oil. Refined Olive Oil is extracted from Virgin Olive Oil and the refinement process does not cause any change in the structure of the original olive oil. The acidity (expressed as oleic acid) does not exceed 0,3g (0,3%) per 100g, so it is suitable for frying.

4.Extra Light Olive Oil

This olive oil has lighter color and taste and a high content in fats and calories, and it is suitable for baking.

5.Cold-Pressed Olive Oil

Cold-pressed means that olive oil does not go through a heating process. This olive oil has a more intense taste. If the label says ¡°first cold-pressed¡¯ is because it really is, and it is considered to be better that any other posterior pressing. It is more expensive and is appropriate for cold meat, pasta¡.
